George,

No pictures of the second and third coats of the home made stuff...nothing to see..

Balance of pigment headed home-be sure to open the box and look for the envelope.

Here is the store bought.

Close enough for a concept gun.

Their "yellow ochre" paint must have some other pigments in it.

Douglas,
You blew my planned post out of the water by being so quick on the draw in getting the first try at yellow ochre removed form the carriage, and the new paint on. I already had the info bookmarked and the photos uploaded to my hosting sight. Oh well, maybe next time.
I do like the shade of yellow ochre that you ended up with.

No need to send it back; put it on a shelf in the garage and wait for the next Montana Cannon Shoot.

You don't realize just how many parts till you build one yourself.
That's why it costs so much to have someone else build it for you.

The general rule for sanding I use if you want the best finish is, "when you think you are done sanding, sand it two more times". :o

Gotta do something while watching the paint dry!

I'll add the hardware in a couple of days.

While I wait a week to ten days waiting for the paint to cure, I guess I should start planning my next project!

If I dried this stuff in the oven I would not be divorced, I would be dead...

Like Ahnold to Sharon Stone in Total Recall: "Consider that a divorce!"

Where would you find the 50*C setting on your US oven? ;)

The paint color you ended up with looks good.  Are you planning on giving it an aged look after the paint cures so it will match the aging on the barrel?

It's not finished yet, so when its done it may not rate consideration...we'll see.

Two thumbs up from Broomfield,Colorado, Double D.  Love that color!  You certainly deserve another Kewpie!  That paint's contrast with the black hardware will really make it look cool.  That "exploded view" photo is marvelous; what a great idea!

Looking forward to seeing it rigged for action!

I like the type of Kewpies you guys give...do you need my mailing address!!!

Kabar, SeaCoast guys thanks for the compliments, I hope you feel the same when you see after it is assembled.

I suppose I could have did a better job on the static display...maybe used a straight edge so some things weren't crooked--  ;D

I still have to build a shooting deck for it and then take it to the range and shoot it!!!!

Far from a museum piece, very far-real far!!!  Thanks Dom, thanks everyone for your kind remarks...but wait for the finished product you may change your mind.

Dom your are the second person to suggest calendar entry...I'm not sure.  I'm sure I could come with a better picture...humm the rules say:

Quote
You may post only one picture per cannon and it must be your cannon.  Sponsors may submit a picture of a cannon they built.    If you later take a better picture and want to submit it you must first delete your original post and resubmit a new post. If you submit two pictures of the same cannon, both posts will be deleted.

Okay I'll do it.

As far as a calender photo why not have the exploded view and an image of the finished gun melded (photo shopped) into one shot?

the exploded view to and finished gun bottom... it's still one photo.

Or if you don't like that idea how about an enlargement of the exploded view printed out with the finished gun resting on top of it?

Good Greif , I wont ever look at a sailing ship movies the same way , ever agian . Thanks DD  ???.

This morning I was watching the second Pirates of the Carribian what catches my attention ?

At MT's the Black Swan movie was on .......what catches my attention ?

Yep ,  Yellow Orcher , the stuff is all over hollywood yours looks like theirs it's a good match ! I cant decide which bugs me more now  . The color itself or the name .

The color WAS fine untill being etched into my brain by this post and now it's going to bug me like a P-51 posing as a ME 109 in some movie .

Pass the yellow mustard please , or from now on pass the Orcher please !

As long as this build took I lost track of how many pieces of hardware was involed .

It was abunch and they look very good .

The Orcher has been verified by Funk and Wagnalls and DNA testing proves that you are the Father of Yellow Orcher .

I will only call it "The Orcher"  (yellow being understood) from now on .

It may take on a life of it's own in certain circles . "you better be good or "The Orcher" will get you .
