H335 for 444
« on: October 31, 2009, 06:30:45 AM »
The label on a bottle of H335 recommends 56gr for 265 gr bullet. I tried it and put through five rounds at 75 yds and all were touching. loaded five more the next day and got the same. Anyone else use this load. The gun of course was an H&R 444 and the bullet a Hornady 265FN.

Haven't tryed it yet, but will now. ;)  I did pick up a pound of it to try after re-reading Brian Pierce's artical in an old copy of "Handloader" on the triple 4.  DP

I use H4198 for the 240gr and 265gr bullets, Rl7 for the 355gr Beartooth gas checked cast, both powders shoot under 1" at 100yds.

I use H335, but not that much...From the top of my head, I'm between 50 and 51 grain with a 265gr Hornady bullet.  I can keep three rounds touching standing supported at 50 yards.  I can't ask for more than that!

I use the same bullet for my .44's for deer hunting and they are the same with medium loads! ;)  I attribute the bullet and Marlin's rifling to it!  I have 1 in 20" twists in all my lever guns! :)
