$30,000,000.00 Governor
« on: November 03, 2009, 03:53:30 AM »
I heard that Mr. Corzine (believe that is the name) has spent $30,000,000.00
of his own money to campaign for governor o New Jersey.
Why would a person do this, how much does the job pay.
Looks like crook looking for a place to rob, how else would he ever
get his money back ??? ;)

you got that right, he didn't get rich by making bad investments and he doesn't stay rich by throwing money away.

Voters for the most part seem to miss point like you bring up. I doubt the job pays much more than say $150,00.00 a year, so my guess is in capital letters, POWER. He will make far more than he spent BEHIND THE SCENES than his salary will ever pay. It would seem that American voters would pick up on that but, they do not.

Look for instance at many Congressmen, and Senators. They come into office with a modest amount of money, and some with almost none. Six to eight years later they are millionaires on less than $175,000.00 a year. Hmmmmmm. Makes one think about those lobbyists doesn't it?

I think Jesse Ventura said it best. If it wasn't a scam, would people spend 20 million dollars to land a job that pays 100k a year?

We had one here in Ohio. John Glenn, astronaut, Marine fighter pilot.''Senator''. Don't think that retirement from the military pays that well, but the perks from being a senator sure pays well.(remember the Keating 5)  gypsyman

How do you know he 'really' spent 30 mil...?  American politics is a money transfer game for influence. BTW, if he got 40 mil in contributions and only reportedly spent 30 million; guess what he gets to keep the 10 mil. Until campaign and election moneyneering is regulated you are going to get what you've been getting in politics.

..TM7

Fox news says the number is more like $25,000,000.00, so he spent more than the job pays by far.

The report i heard was $30,000,000.00 of HIS OWN MONEY not contributions
but if it was $15,000,000 what dif. does it make, he is laying out more than he will recieve (legally) but he lost. I should have known TM7 would ride to his
defence. :D
