.280 Rem Magic load found!
« on: November 03, 2009, 09:30:20 AM »
I finally found the load for my .280 rem. At 100 yard I shot 2 separate 3 shot groups, 1st group had all 3 touching 2nd group was two holes, one was elongated.  I was using rem brass, IMR 4831, cci primers and a 175 grain Hornady Interlock spitzer with a moderate crimp loaded out to 3.345" OAL Very happy as I have been having no luck with the CT Partition Golds so far. I have tried 3 different powders and worked loads for all and could not get a group under 1.5" at 100 yards.

Before i read the post i figured a 175 gr. bullet was involved...
I had a Ruger bolt gun in 7 X 57 a while back ...it loved those 175 gr.ers...

the 280 Rem. is a heck of a round...

Masterblaster1,
Glad to hear it finally worked out for you. Your persistence sure paid off. It's a great feeling when you can work up the ideal load and then use it to harvest game. Great job!
