This is a project that I just finished. The dimensions are 38 dia x 4 thick. Most of the maple is .75 x1.5.
the mahog is approx 1.25 x 1.25. All of the edge maple is approx 1.25 x 3. there is about 50 hrs. in it.
I have to say this was rather tedious getting all the shapes to fit together. I used an edge-sander to get it close, then I used a disk sander to get the parts flat. It was pretty fun.
The nice part about it was that I had access to a Kundig wide belt sander, and the final shaping of the circle I did on the cnc.
Now I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I have an old table that has shellac on it. I want to remove the shellac and refinish it. I understand that denatured alcahol does this. Will it remove all the shellac so that I can use another type of finish such as poly, or do I need to re-shelac it? I'm not familiar with the process.
