IT's Been Dipping Time
« on: November 06, 2009, 04:44:47 AM »
Haven't set a trap this season, but I have been dipping them.
Over the last week or so,I have been finally getting my dipping done. Now dipping traps in 40 degree temps is a bit different than summer time dipping--lol,I wear my longies.
I add a bit more coleman fuel then it calls for, traps have been dry to the touch in short order.
This way ,even if I don't get to set any this fall, all my 330s will be ready for spring trapping. And if something comes up,I have all my stoploss--looking pretty.

I got me some #3dls the other day and replaced the springs with new ones and base plated and laminated them. Than I threw them in the barrel to boil and dye them and tried something I read on T-man about dying traps. I tried maple leaves and man did they ever work. The new springs barely had time to take on rust, but still came out with a very dark black coating that got even better when I waxed them. Nut crop around here is non-existant this year so I was glad to have found an alternative dying method. Worm
