Rusty, all I've seen had a water unit.  The first one was one my brother uses and it has a unit that goes with it about 2' square.  A pump pushes the water to a channel on top where it then runs down across the air being pushed by the compressot then out to the mask.

My old one had a small compressor (air pump) that then blew air into a flat unit that had water in it.  The air blowing across the water picked up moisture to help you breath.  Otherwise it would dry out your sinuses. 

My new unit has a little door on the left side.  When you lift the door there is a small clear plastic container inside that when pulled on it comes out.  You put water in the container and the air blowing through it picks up moisture.

Now when I go to Florida there is no need to fill up the water container.  The air down there is so humid it won't pick up any more moisture.  Here in Alaska I have to fill the container every other night.  In Florida I filled it when I got there and a week later I emptied it because the water was getting foul.  The container was still full, so I quite using it while in Florida.  When in East Texas the unit uses little water each night.  When in West Texas I will use almost all the water in one night.

So if you live in Florida, you may not need it.  But here in Alaska where it is dry in the winter I do.

I go Friday for my fitting. Luckily my insurance pays 90% with a 200 dollar deductible and my wife's insurance will pick up 80% of the balance.

My pressure is 9 whatever that means, and I don't need oxygen, which is good I guess.

The second full face mask I tried at my test was fairly comfortable. I'll still have to get used to it I'm sure. But I'm looking forward to a really good nights sleep.

Good to hear it's working out for you. I know I've never felt better than after the c-pap. I now know why I woke up tried. No anymore, I wake up feeling refreshed.

It is something to look into  if you think you have it! My father had it & I believe he died because of it at the young age of 65! It can shorten your life becase the body needs a decent amount of quality sleep! He weighed 150 soaking wet 5'10" tall built like a brick ##^* house! To make a long story short 3 out of 4 of my sibblings have c pap machines that includes me! My mother had a new knee done and she stopped breathing on the operating table more than once! She survived and is now on a cpap machine! She lived alone and none of us kids new she had sleep apnea before the operation! My advise is check it out with your doctor if you think you have it! Or your wife tells you to get it checked out!

Just read the Obit today for a young man here in Fairbanks, 47 died in his sleep.  While I did not know him, I know several people that did.  They are all in shock, saying he was a healthy person, in good shape.  That's all the obit said, that he died in his sleep.  Makes you wonder.   Especially after living with a loved one that stops breathing every few minutes all night.
