Remington/Baikal spr shotguns

Has one had any experience with these.  I can get a 28ga. in excellent condition for $325.  Good or bad??

Kinda neither really. They are functional and rugged but ugly and clunky feeling. I'll admit I've never seen a 28 ga mostly 12's and a few 20s. If it feels OK to you and you think you can shoot it OK then go for it. The price is reasonable and they are tough and should last.

  Hello Iceman,

   I've got a couple of them, a sxs 12 that is an original baikal, and a sxs 20 that's got the remington brand on it.
   I love them both, they are very rugged and reliable, they 'fit' me good, go bang when I pull the trigger, hit what I shoot at, and the looks will grow on you.

   I use them both a lot, the 12 really makes a good Duck gun, I don't tear up when I get it muddy and soaking wet, or my lab crawls over it getting back into the boat after a retrieve. they both have chrome lined barrels and handle 3" steel shells just fine.

  The price ain't bad neither, I didn't even know they came in 28 gauge.

  Iceman,   You didn't say what model you are looking at for that price ?
Is it a double, SXS or O/U ?  If so that might be inline with what they are going for.
I bought a 12 ga. SPR 100 in April of this year for $ 85.00 New thats a blued receiver single shot with stained hardwood stock.I seen a used 20 ga. a Cabelas in MI a few months ago that was the more delux model with silver receiver and walnut for $ 119.95, I should have bought it cause they seem to have dissapeared from the gun stores everywhere.
If that 28 ga. is a single shot model I would say it's way over priced.     Jedman

These are about as ugly as mud fence but overbuilt like most things Russian. I've shot a few with no bad results. I've been thinking about buying one and working on the wood to metal fit with some sandpaper or a file, then do a refinish on the wood.

I just bought a NIB SPR 310 / 28 gauge yesterday @ G Mnt.  It was priced @ $500, recently marked down to $350 then to $315, which is what I paid.  I was considering a TriStar Ex Hunter 28 I found for $580 over the SPR because I wanted interchangeable chokes, but decided to go with SPR at that price.  I have a SPR 94 410 / 22lr that has been very reliable, that helped me to decide as well.  I was told that it was marked down as they are not going to be carrying that model anymore.
