other then the hammer profile and trigger guard shape, is there any strength differences between the
new model super and blackhawk ?
 and how do they compare to the redhawk, ?
what i am concerned with is frame and cylinder strength. longevity of not having any cylinder end shake or timing issues.

BH and SBH both use the same cylinder and cylinder frames (flattops the exception, and the Hunter models have diff bbl threads)

  I wouldn't worry about strength issues unless you're going way above SAAMI specs on loads.  Of course, IMO, if you need the "Ruger only" level loads, why not simply go with a more powerful chambering to begin with?

well i have a taurus model 44 in .44mag now, i do  not go above SAAMI specs, but the cylinder is starting to show some measureable end shake.
i got rid of my taurus 608 in .357mag for a ruger new vaquero in .357mag- there is  a world of difference between the taurus and ruger, and thats no surprise, but i think that the taurus model 44 should be able to handle SAAMI near max load .44 mag rounds, but it sure seems it cannot.
so the answer is a SBH or BH or RH  in .44 mag , so i have been looking at the ruger website, compairing and contrasting the BH, SBH and RH, SHR.
 
it didnt take long for me to have questions, and not really trusting the local or any gunshop counter jocky like i do the experinced guys here, i thought i'd ask about the differences between the BH,SBH other then the obvious.
i was hoping to get some advice or opinions on any differences, not that i need to go super hot with my loads, but max or near max saami loads would be nice.

  Well, you've got a single action or a double action...apples and oranges.  They certainly have different mechanics and will have a different feel as well.  Which fits your hand best?   Don't discount the Bisley models either.

The Blackhawk and SBH both have the same size frame and there really is no difference in the strength of either. The grip on the Super is longer than that of the Blackhawk and some like that better for handling recoil.

As was mentioned, the Bisley is another choice and handles heavy recoil better than ANY other Ruger in my opinion.

The Redhawk and Super Redhawk have cylinders that are a little bit longer and can handle bigger heavier bullets in some cases. Some say that they are stronger too, but I don't know. I think either style will handle any sensible loads in 44 mag.

I think the single actions are easier on the hand. I don't own one, but have shot a Bisley Hunter model SBH and it was one of the if not THE best 44 mag I have ever fired. I DO own 44 Bisleys, a SBH, Blackhawks, and Redhawk all in 44 mag and I would hate to pick a favorite.

I have a Taurus Model 44. The handbook that came with the gun said not to use loads heavier than 240 grains. I run the heavy weight loads in my Super Blackhawk. One thing about the Super Blackhawk is it has a steel grip frame and an unfluted cylinder. The Super Blackhawk is heavier than the blued Blackhawk in 45 Colt. The stainless Blackhawk in 45 Colt has a steel grip frame and is heavier than the blued model. So in the Blackhawk line some guns are lighter than others depending on the grip frame. The 44 Magnum Redhawk I owned was a little heavier than the Super Blackhawk. I ran some loads through the Redhawk that I would not run through the Super Blackhawk. The Redhawk is a stronger gun. It would only make a difference if you were shooting heavy loads though. I used mine for load testing with the 320 grain bullets. The Redhawk will handle heavy loads with ease. I have a Super Redhawk in 454 and it is one tough gun as well.

In the Rugers, BH, SBH, SRH, Hunter or Bisley, just pick the one that you like the best. All are top quality.

I recommend the Bisley in 45 Colt if you reload, love my 5.5 and it shoots the 300 grn XTP great. 8)

yeah, i reload. the taurus will be going to the gunsmith soon, get a good tune-up and once over.
then its up for sale/trade. i need to get a bh/sbh or rh  in 44 mag.
thanks for the input and opinions.  i'll try the feel of the bisley models, see if they are a possibility.
