Muzzleloader hogs
« on: November 08, 2009, 05:10:38 PM »
Hey guys. In March im going on a hog hunt with my dad. I really want to try to go after them with my trusty tc omega. The hogs they have are going to be 350+ pounds and mean. What bullet do you recommend? All i need is decent grouping at 50 yards as the shots will be close and easy to ram would be wonderful. Any help is greatly appreciated.
have fun! get it done with a 308.

A good place to start would be Hornady.com. They have a pretty good line of bullets for Blackpowder. I would go with the heavier weight bullets.

I have on 2 occasions. Both were head shots. One was a 80 lb sow at 60 yds and the other was a 225 lb boar around 40 yds. Both went right down. The sow ate good. The boar went to sausage and was OK.

For hogs as big and heavy as you're talking about I'd suggest considering a "bonded" ShockWave from T/C.
