Help with front sight on new 500!!!!

Hello everyone.  I have a question for you all.  Just bought a Handi in 500.  It has the rifle sights.  Well the front sight came unmounted.  Or I guess it was unmounted.  Well I get the gun home and try to screw in the front sight.  It seems as though the hole in the barrel for the screw to go into is too big!!!  Because when I try to screw in the rearmost screw on the sight to the frontmost screwhole on the barrel, it threads right in.  But of course that causes the sight to stick off of the end.  It looks like there are two holes that the screw can go in.  But the actual dovetailed sight with the FO rod is covering up the second hole, and I have tried to get the dovetailed FO sight out and have had no luck.  In fact I have already broken the FO Rod!!  Still functions though.

Any suggestions???

The insert is in a dove tail ,it can be moved with a proper sized drift punch and careful hammer work. My insert was broken in shipment, in the factory box, from the factory. I called Remington and they sent me a replacement insert out at no charge in 4 days. The the hole you are looking for is in the dovetail area of the sight. So and steady.     26-t

The factory sights are of an inferior design. If you must have irons find some that are of quality manufacture or just scope it.
