Paper patch for a .357 Magnum
« on: October 17, 2003, 07:11:52 AM »
I've got a .357 magnum rifle that I would like to try paper-patching.

I know I'd have some hassle getting the crimp right so it doesn't cut the patch - but it seems as if it can be done.

What I'm having trouble with is locating a mould.  Lee offers a .338 rifle mold that casts a 220 grain gas-checked bullet.

I was thinking of ordering that and filing it down to remove the gas-check part as well as shorten the bullet down to something like a 158 grain or 140.

Am I loony?

Wait a minute, I don't need an answer for that.

Is the idea loony?

Sounds like a good project to play with.  Don't know how the 0.338 bullet would perform patched up 0.02" though.
