300 RUM crimp?
« on: November 10, 2009, 07:46:12 AM »
I was just going to start a load for my 300 RUM with Nosler Partitions 180s when I realized that they do not have a cannelure, so no crimp possible.  Am I ok with this MAG round not being crimped???

Thanks,
Buckskin

I've never crimped any bottle neck rifle round other than for a lever rifle. I've never seen a problem with it yet.

Never crimped a round for a bolt gun or a single shot. There are more component bullets without a cannelure than those with.

Good deal, thanks.  That's what I was thinking, but my manuals say to crimp for auto's, tube mags and high recoil rounds.

I've not ever crimped any rifle shell other than when playing with a lever gun. My youngun owns a 7mm Ultra and a 300 ultra. His reloads have needed nor gotten crimped. No problems from recoil either.
