Trigger for Mohawk 600 ??
« on: November 10, 2009, 03:16:03 PM »
Guys,

I have a mohawk 600 with a 20" full  bull fluted barrel chambered in 25/284 and I am needing a new trigger for it. Who makes a good (not overly priced) trigger for it? Thanks for the help. Robbie

Not much to think about and not much choice.

Timney makes one  look here  http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=23113/Product/REMINGTON_600_TRIGGER_W__SAFETY

Rob

Some additional information.

see:  http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-215658.html

It may be possible that there are other options available to you.  Seems to be a claim that a trigger for a Remington 700 will fit.  I'm not sure because I do not have a Rem 600 to compare.

If that's the case you might want to look at Jewell.  I have two Jewells and think they are terrific, also have a Shilen.  All are  Rem 700 compatible and adjust down to 1-1.5 ounces.  They are on benchrest guns.

Look here for Jewell:

Hope this helps

Rob, It may be that you just need to have it adjusted unless it's  completely broken to pieces.
Remington triggers are hard to beat if adjusted correctly and any aftermarket trigger will also have to be adjusted correctly if it's going to be better.

I had a problem where if you pulled the trigger when the safety was on it would fire when you took the safety off. I took it to my gunsmith and he worked the trigger over and on the 10th or so shot it won't cock anymore...I called him and he told me that I would have to buy a new trigger due to my original trigger being altered by the previous owner. This is an awesome rifle, I hate that the trigger broke just before deer season... thanks for the help.. he told me that he had a couple of 700 triggers in stock...I will have to talk to him about it...Robbie

I believe any Remington 700 trigger group will work? May require alterations for the bolt release to work? Second thought, Mohawks have 700 trigger groups in them. The original 600s and 660s were different.

It's a shame someone screwed up the original trigger. I have an old 600 in 308 with a Richards Micro Fit stock. It is the sweetest lightest and most accurate gun on my deer hunting shelf.
Coming to think of it, as smooth as the action is it may be a good platform for a short action custom.
