Pretty Lil' Pardner
« on: November 12, 2009, 12:03:02 PM »
My new 20 gauge H&R.  I sent this (small firing pin) SB1 receiver back to the factory for a 20 gauge 22" barrel & a .357 Magnum barrel.  I had them put a TDC walnut stock set on it too.  This stock set will end up on my .45-70 when I get a barrel band & rear swivel stud installed.

That's a real nice looking stock set Swampy. That 20 makes the perfect woods gun too. ;D

SWEEEEEET - Very nice - now I've got to get a 20ga. Thinking a nice .410 would be a good grandkid gun too. Thats some beautiful wood. (envy-jealous <G>)

Man oh man Swampy that is beautiful!

What does TDC stand for? Is that just their model number or something?

It's not right to covet so I wish I had that one and you had an even better one.

The set was about $100.00 I believe.

I just went and pulled out my 12 ga. Deluxe. I guess it does have walnut stocks but they aren't no where near as pretty as Swampy's. Mine aren't checkered either. That's OK, it's still the best shooting shotgun I own.

ThomasB, your grandkid'd be better off with the 22 inch 20 ga.  .410 shells cost a fortune.  You can shoot 4 boxes of 20s for the price of 1 .410.  Start him off with light target low brass loads, and he'll think he's shooting the .410.

Pete - tks for reply. Actually, I was kinda thinking the same thing after reading many of the other posts.
From what I can tell, the 28ga seems to be very very popular. My oldest grandson has no problem shooting my 20ga and loves it. He's pretty good too at busting clays. The one I'm thinking of (he just turned 8 )
likes shooting my .22mag but doesn't like the recoil of the 20ga. Maybe I will start seriously looking around for a 28ga. Of course, grandpa could also use it for quail hunting when he's not using it <G>.

I have a Tamer 20. Those things kick pretty hard even with $5/box economy loads. Way more than my Versa Pack 410. Which I shoot with $8/box game loads. If I ever saw a stock like that on a Handi in a store at pretty much any price, I'd buy it. Wow, real nice.

Very beautiful little shotgun. ;)  I have a 20 and a .410 in 22 inch, and they're super "Handi" in the woods.  They're just Plain Janes though in their pallet wood stocks.  Now I guess I'm gonna have to dress them up after they saw this ;D
