Lou Dobbs question

I really don't know who Lou Dobbs is. My impression is that we was quite a popular personality at CNN television. Since CNN is generally liberal, why would he have been targeted by "thought police"?

I liked Lou, and really about the only time I watched CNN was when he was on.  He asked tough questions, seemed really logical...which of course put him at odds with liberals and thought police.  Would not surprise me if Fox grabbed him up but I really have no idea what his plans are.

Really? What on earth was he doing on CNN for? I didn't know they did anything like that. I thought it was all "It's Bush's fault" or "It's the US's fault".

Lou started with CNN when they started up, before their political agenda was set.  He also did the business news and did not get into the other reporting until just a few years ago.  I felt Lou did a fair and honest report.  He asked questions that no other commentator at CNN would ask. 

Unfortunately the cable provider where I live does not offer Fox News, we are stuck with CNN.  I only watched CNN when Lou was on.  Now no more Chicken Noodle News in our house.

He started to work for CNN back in the early to mid 90's. When there wasn't quite so much spin on the news. And he doesn't like what they have been changing into in the last 8-9 years. Probably had enough, and had to call it quits. Same as John Stossel. Not what you'ld call a true conservative, but can't stand what the ''major'' networks have turned into. Not sure if you can call NBC,ABC,CBS, or CNN, major networks anymore. Fox holds quite a bit of the market anymore, I believe, just because more people are getting tired of the junk on the other stations. gypsyman

i have watched lou dobbs for many years. he was the first to raise the alarm about the effects of illegal immigration. he showed no favortisim for any party was the only voice of logic on that issue. he immeadiately was dismissed as a nut and racist. when that did not shut him up the attacks started in full force. he spoke out about the Bush administrations failure to enforce the immigration laws and to close the borders. this enraged the right and he was already being attacked by the left.

he knows more about the issue than anyone on this planet and i have watched him long enough to know that his is no racist. he simply understands the issue and its effect on the economy of the united states. he was warning for years what was going to happen in california and other states when the bills came due for all the freebies that were being doled out to illegal immigrants.

I watched him confront the president of mexico as well as their ambassador about this issue demanding answers as to why they would not do anything to help the us stop this. he openly and vigorusly confronted the bush administration personell as to why the simply refused to enforce the laws of the u.s. i saw him confront labor leaders and advocay groups time and time again. he used the facts not emotions and all scraemed and hollerd about this racist this man who was spreading lies to turn people against mexicans. in other words he hit them between the eyes with the truth all of them. they did the only thing they could do call him a racist and demand he be fired. Now look at california and the shape it is in as well as other states because mainly of this issue all predited and fortold by lou dobbs. i hope he goes to fox news if not i bet he will continue to be the voice of reason and whever he is. cnn nmore than likely eased him out for they are left wing in most cases and he did not fit there. if you want the truth of that issue and the continued warnings of the dangers to our nation with the open borders we have as well as the dangers of the so called sanctuary cities he will give it to you.

no one else will.

Sourdough the only exception i can take with your post is the fact that I REALLY believe that the political agenda was always set there. Only in the recent years have they just not made any bones about it like most of the state run media. But I am in agreement with the jest of your post.

Ihave not tuned in to the "Chicken Noodle News" since it became the "Clinton news network" years ago.

Lou was on the right side of the illegal immigration problem, but that was about the only thing I consistently agreed with him on. On every thing else he struck me as being to liberal.

He did report on ANWR with a very positive pro drilling view.  But realized that was a dead horse and dropped it.

I didn't realize I had watched him that long...He anchored "MoneyLine" starting in 1980 and I used to watch that all the time in the early 80s...It will be interesting where he pops back up...

tm7 your are right on that. it is the single biggest disagreement i have with gwb. it was beyond comprehension that he turned his head away from doing anything about one of the most serious problems this nation had and still does. the damage and cost of not enforceing the border laws is mind boggling.

lou dobbs was and is just about the only one that has clearly explained the cost to the states and the nation. he was vilified by both the left and right on this issue. thats whats is so hard to understand the total turning of the heads of all to this.

I always liked Lou.  He was way too realistic and logical for CNN.
