Mabe someone could help?
« on: November 13, 2009, 12:16:18 PM »
I just bought a Rossi single shot combo.  Its the .308 and 12 gauge.  I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is anyway I can find out what size screws hold the front and rear sights on because i want to take them off and put some filler screws in.  The people from Rossi said all they could tell me was that its metric.

First I would doubt they are metric.  Are the screws the same size as the plugs in the barrel for the scope rail mount?  If so, then they are 6-48 NS.  Larry

They are smaller than the scope rail bolts.  With calipers they measure about .114-.115.  I think the scope rail bolts are around .135 or so. Im sure they are metric thats just what the guy from Rossi said.  The threads are really fine though.

I have a front sight and screw on my desk at home, be there in a week.  I still doubt they are metric, the Rossi guys just don't know much about their guns, if they knew they were metric they would know what they were.  Guess they could be however.  Do the threads match the ones for the scope base even though the screws are smaller?  A 4-48 screw is .112 diameter.  Larry

I have a .22 Rossi and after I took the front sight off I was going to use the scope rail plug screws to plug the holes - no way, they are definitely smaller than 6-48!

Hope you figure it out.  I'd like to know what to order for mine too!
