Opinion of Federal Small pistol Primers
« on: November 13, 2009, 02:13:18 PM »
Have been waiting for my local gun dealer to get in some small pistol primers for loading my 357's and 38's. Before the shortage he always stocked Winchester primers so that's what I used. For some time now he has been out but just got in some Federal primers. Was wondering what everyone's opinion of Federal primers was. This will be my first time reloading with this brand. Thanks in advance.

Hi
I've never had any problems with Federal primers in either size.
I've used them with ball powders also.

Federal, Winchester, CCI. Which is cheapest. That's what I have been shopping for since 1970. Too much hype over brand names in that area, in my humble but, experienced opinion. I have used them all, and can't tell the difference on any of my many thousands of loadings. If I were trying to load match ammunition, I might pay closer attention, but I'm not. JM2CW

I've used thousands of federal primers, never had any problems with them. In fact, the 209 shotgun primers actually showed LESS pressure with the same velocities and pwdr charges according to loading books. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D
