First Tikka T3 - Scope Question

Hi guy's,
            I've been lurking around the forum for awhile learning as much as I can and this is my first post so be gentle  !  I'm currently waiting for my "Permit to Acquire" to come back from the boy's in blue  (3 weeks and still waiting) so I can pick up my new toy, a Tikka T3 Stainless Camo .300WM.  It currently has a Nikko Stirling Diamond 3-12x52 fitted and I think it has aftermarket rings (not 100% sure as I've only seen it once, the day I put a deposit on it).
  I have on the way a Zeiss Diavari 3-12x56 T* with a 30mm tube on the way and I'm not sure what height rings/bases I'll need to fit it with.  I've been looking through the forum and I like the look of the DNZ 1pc. Ring/Mnt. but I don't know if I'll need the Medium or High (or even if the high will be high enough).  Has anyone fitted a scope with this large an Objective?  Most posts seem to have between 40 & 50 size objectives.
  I've been burnt before with cheap optics and I don't want to make the same mistake again so any help would be greatly appreciated.  It would be great to be able to arrange this before I pick the rifle up as I'm in Australia and I have no doubt I'll have to order the DNZ's from the USA.  I've seen another couple of comments regarding fitting a Limbsaver recoil pad, but I think I'll wait until I run it in to make the decision.  I've got a can of Reloader 22 and a box of Barnes 168gr TTSX projectiles just begging to be hand loaded so as you can imagine I'm sitting here quite impatiently.

You fail to mention what calipier you will be shooting . I take it with reloader 22 it is more than the '06 , so having a tikka myself , just go ahead with the limsaver reciol pad , before going through the truble of setting up the scope Etc. This is indeed money well spent . Then allow for a bit more eye relief as the pad compress's .
Then too I set my rifle up just perfect !!! Yeah got a surprize being dumb enough to do this in my shirt, instead of hunting gear .( Well you learn something every day - want to or not !! )

Before ordering. the scope mount and base's, why not just contact DNZ or look up their web site and get exactly what you need .

          Thanks for the prompt reply.
It's a .300wm, hence the slow powder.  Thanks for the head's-up on allowing for a bit extra eye relief when using the recoil pad.  I might go ahead and order one so it's ready to go as well.
I've checked the DNZ website and they recommend the high mount for scopes with 50mm Obj. and most 56mm Obj. so I've emailed them for possible confirmation, just thought someone may have already done this and I could get a head start.  They supply a bottom of mount to center of scope tube measurement, but it's a bit hard until I can pick the rifle up (it's about 2 hours away) and the scope's not here yet either.

Hi Happy,
              Just wanted to follow up with the answers I've received.  Tim Coggins from DNZ came back to me and I do need the High Mount, so it's on the way.  I also got the same answers from a couple of guy's over at Optics Talk, one of which is running an identical rig.

I've also taken your advice regarding the Limbsaver recoil pad, and I've got one coming from Cabela's with an order I just placed.

Well Guess things are well underway .
I live in Canada next door to the USA and it is not easy nor quick to get anything gun related . Most people need to wait six months to a year just to get through the permits and both borders to get what little there is shipped . then too Most companies in the states want a minuim 3to 500 order from your gun shop.
It is getting to the point were you settle with what you can get instead of what you might like .

OK, maybe I shouldn't complain about 3 or 4 weeks! 6-12 months is ridiculous!  I'm just excited about setting up the best Rifle I've ever owned.
I don't know if you've ever purchased off of Cabela's before, but I'd highly recommend them.  This order will be my second and the first was handled with great service ( including several on-line chat's to discuss various options ).  I'd love to get over to the US one day for a look around, and if I do a visit to a Cabela's store will be a must.
I'll post up a picture when I get it all together.

Highs are likely the way to go, I have med on a 50mm and it must be slid forward to clear the chamber. It's got decent eye relief otherwise I'd probably need highs. It does keep a person from creeping too far on the scope though. You enjoy shooting that t3 off the bench now. My .300Wm gets my attention at sight in time! It aint the end of the world, but I'm always happy to pick up the Marlin 1895 after shooting the Tikka t3 lite.

                       Thanks for your reply.  Good call on the eye relief, a mate has one of these with a Kahles which don't have great eye relief and it's "kissed" him several times.  I understand your pain, the same mate recently purchased a Schmidt & Bender to go on his .300 and as he was going to Alaska for a Moose hunt, and using his new .375H&H he didn't want to shoot anything but the .375 until after the trip I volunteered ( any excuse really to pull a trigger ).  I've shot it before, but mostly in the field and sighting the new scope in made me realize that you wouldn't want to bench rest one all day every day. 
Do you have a Limbsaver recoil pad on your .300wm?  What size projectile are you using?
It's funny, this same mate gave me a shot of his .375H&H when he was first running the barrel in and I was pleasantly surprised, but when he gave me a shot after working up the load I got a shock.  While I'd certainly fire it again I don't think I'd like to put it across a bench for too long.
I love his .300wm, anything out to 400 and you own it.  It's the reason I decided on one.

No Limb Saver, though I do think about it the day after shooting at the range. Like everyone says it doesn't kick a bit in the field. I really try to limit myself to ten pops and no more. I find that I start thinking about the recoil about that time, and really don't want any bad habits to start.
