  In the "four sides" thread, unless we could fit into one of the round holes outlined by the author of the thread, we should not participate.
Well, some of us are just a bit to square, oval or triangular to be popped into those neatly pre-formed round holes!
  Those categories sound eerily like something my radical left younger brother might offer..either I be pigeonholed into his pre-arranged definition or I am not worthy of having an opinion.
  Taking a clue from William Layton, who suggested that each person has an opinion, and they need not match yours or mine and sometimes one may have to forego stark idealism on some very minor, or nearly moot point in order to do ANYTHING at all:.. I ask this question;

You have been speaking about not voting for  "the lesser evil"..fine then; but most of us are willing to vote against "the greater evil" otherwise we get what we just got! You words seem to indicate that you will not vote for anyone who disagrees with your every opinion.
  Frankly,I have seen and voted for some very well qualified candidates, but they didn't reflect my opinion exactly in everything. In fact where I differed with the candidate..he/she may well have agreed closer with you or someone else in this forum.
  If anyone CANNOT compromise in minor things, be they husband, father, doctor, lawyer, Indian chief or even a politician, they are going to make things miserable for everyone around them ...and ultimately, themselves.....and it will take it's toll.

Be fair? I said if you don't feel like you fit in any of the four categories don't participate. You started this thread for no other reason than to flame me. That's all it's about. A reasonable guy would have just passed on the thread. It's your way or the wrong way. You even UNNECESSARILY compared me to your radical brother, whom ever the hell that is.

These threads came to mind when I was talking to my 14 yo son about the book 1984 ... some of you may remember the part where the language was steadily altered to where you could not even articulate a dissenting opinion from the establishment. So I personally like having those around who stir the pot; keeps us on our toes. Keeps us having to think outside a box and recognize maybe the problem isn't the sides, but the box itself.

What disappoints me in these threads are not the views, but the schoolyard name calling. When we stoop to that we've conceded we lack the intellectual ability to discuss an idea like gentlemen ... this world could use a few more smart gentlemen with a pair to stand up and act that way.

We all compromise when we vote, no candidate is perfect. Actually as we true Cristians conservatives know that all men are sinners, therefore we all vote for the lessor of 2 evils.

I would imagione there are some here who cannot face up to their shortcomings in life, therefore they lash out at others and try to make themselves feel superior by doing so.

        Actually, I think most of us figure we have a grasp of how some others view things, we would have to be a gaggle of airheads to communicate here for years and not even have a clue about such things.  I ..don't...think...so.

  I hope I have not been guilty in this thread of schoolyard name calling. I try to scrupulously avoid that, knowing that once the name-calling starts..one has lost their "cool"..and usually lost the debate.
  In case you're wondering, the comparison to my far left younger brother was not name calling, but an attempt to illustrate the immovability of some arguments in the face of evidence. I still love my brother, even though he is often wrong and ignoring facts. I have disagreements with, but no animosity for anyone here either.
