will fire with one but not the other. the hammer will drop but the block below the firing pin doesnt drop, hammer stops on it. what is my problem? wrong lugs? definatly a problem with the 2nd barrel. but what?

just a guess, but I would say the lugs arn't enguaging for enough and the hammer block won't fall

I had a B.B. barrel that did this all other barrels worked not this one. What I first did was new lugs thinking this would help NO did not work. Put back on the other lugs and grabbed a stone/file took off the blue of the lugs until I could see metal then took a marker blackend the surface then open/closed the gun 20 or so times to see how far lugs were engaging..
On my barrel I noticed the were not engaging all the way and I went back and stoned until my problem was solved..I olso found if you listen real well you should be able to hear a clean engage of a lug..Hope this helps and I do all my own work on my own guns but im not a gunsmith so take info as you will...

I have 2 frames the blue one will work with any barrel i have put on it, the S.S. well that is a nother matter.
my 22 lr barrel it will not unlock, the 17 rem. will miss fires about 1/2 the time and the 7tcu will not go down in the frame because of the extractor.

for those who might have a similar problem in the future; it was the lugs. i followed buckenbass advice and now the gun is working as it should.

I have a G2, and it won't cock with one of my barrels. The other barrels all work with this action, and the barrel which won't allow the G2 to cock works fine in my old style action.

Could this also be a problem with the lugs? If so, would the stoning method help?

i would venture to guess about a g2 as i havent put my grubby fingers on one; so i aint sure of the exact mechanics. assuming it is alot like the encore and contenders, i will say it very well could be. most of the problems i have seeen first hand were related to the lugs in one way or the other.

I looked at my g2s and if the lug dose not push the bar in it wont alow you to cock the gun you can ckeck this your self by taking off the barrel and trying to cock it and then putting your finger in the frame and push the bar on the right side now it will cock so if your lugs dont engage all the way it wont let you pull the hammer back "SAFETY" yes this might help But just keep in mind im not a gunsmith so if any one wants to take a bench grinder to their barrels thats on you .. BE SAFE BE SMART
