slim, I have done the same thing. I don't carry in the house, but I put my car keys with my carry gun. When I pick up the keys, I pick up the pistol.

I don't carry in the house, but keep one loaded and handy. We don't have young children at home anymore , our Stafford shire Terrier hates the damn things, and my wife is no longer jealous of me, so It's safe to keep one locked and loaded. ;D

I have a 380 Kal-Tec in my pocket while in the house, and a bunch all over the house in strategic places.

Is your neighborhood so scary that you need to do that? Can you move?

Home invasions are getting more common in my area. therefore, I am armed at all times.

I keep seven stashed around the house in strategic locations, all loaded and ready.  The wife and Sky have always known where they are.  They have been there since we moved back to our home when the wife retired, and Sky was 6.  Never worried about Sky messing with them.

I don't wear one at home, since they are always available.  I keep one or two in my truck, depending on the season.  But since so many people here go armed, and no one needs a concealed carry permit, muggings and robberies are few.  Right now my Carharts have a pistol in the hip pocket (Ruger SP-101 in 357).  I don't leave the house without putting them on, so I always have one on me when I go outside.

Alaska is a right to carry state.  No permit needed to carry openly or concealed.  If you can legally own a gun, you can legally carry a gun.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

BUGEYE, I have no idea where my Dad got the nick name, because he wasn't but, he carried the nick name "Bugeye" to his grave. When his old friends and mine are sitting around the coffee table at the local liars' emporium (cafe) he many times is refered to in a story as "Bugeye" even though he is deceased. Off topic, but a good memory. Sorry.

Questor, living in a good neighborhood can make you a target.  Most thugs tend not to go after the run-down poor neighborhoods.

Around here home invasions have been up as well.  It is good policy to have something handy within arms reach.  I do and my family knows where they are and how to operate them.

I dont carry in the house. I do carry in the yard, thats mostly for chicken attacking dogs! or their masters!

Always carry in the truck, in fact it wont start unless the glock is in position!

Why in the hell would I move? I am not going to leave my home because some clown may want to come in uninvited. I will kill them dead, and not even think about it.

My neighborhood is really not bad at all, but why not be prepared?

I have a derringer in my pocket most of the time, and a few well placed weapons.  We have had 3 home invasions withing 3 blocks of me in the last 6 months.  I am in a neighborhood that is being "revitalized" by a non profit group.  The neighborhood is becoming upscale quickly, and is becoming a target.  We have started a neighborhood watch, and I have gone with two widow ladies to buy them a gun and teach them to use it.  The gun?  H&R Topper 20 ga.  A couple of us have also started doing block walks at night, reminding folks to keep a light on and keep their doors bolted.  In all but one instance, the invasions occured when people opened the door after a knock.  In all three cases, no lights were on in the house or yard.....

I have a regular routene every morning, get up shave shower put on socks jean, and inside the waistband holster with a handgun in it, it is all done without thinking abt. it, eat breakfast and then decide what my day is going to be like, its not that I really worry abt. someone coming into the house but it is comforting to know if it does hit the fan, I dont have to go looking for something.   Jim

There's a story behing every nick name, but if I ever knew why Dad's friends and aquaintances called him Bugeye, it has long since escaped me. Some folks never knew his real name of James. They just called him Bugeye. Even my uncles called him that.
