.357 lever varmit
« on: November 18, 2009, 04:01:26 PM »
I have used a 357 mag winchester trapper for a varmit rifle the last few years.  I have been using a a plated hollow point at 125 grains pushing around 1200 fps.  My brother in law gave me a birthday present of 500 plated 110 grain hollow points and asked me to extend my range and velocity.  These are going to be mostly for coyote or feral dog.  Any one use this light a bullet, what powder, velocity, accuracy, recoil, and noise?  I would like to hold down noise if at all possible.  Any help or advice would be appreciated before I start loading.  I have so many I am also thinking about pushing some through my S&W  38 spl.  The S&W is in good shape but too old to have a Plus+P stamp on it.
Thanks for your time,

blindhari

I would try contacting the manufacturer of whatever powder using & tell them your wants & needs.  I've gotten quite a bit of tech advice from both Alliant and Accurate, and I have no reason to believe any other manufacturer would be less helpful.
