Anyone read about or had a chance to try Hornady's new Superformance ammo? They claim 100-200 fps over standard ammo. New type of powder I think, I really haven't had a chance to read a lot yet. Just wondering if anyone has more info.

New name for Light Mag ammo with an expanded selection of bullets. I've been using Light Mag ammo for years. It's good stuff.

According to an article in The American Rifleman mag. by Bryce Towsley (Apr. 2010) the Superformance ammo is ment to replace the Light Mag ammo but is not the same. It uses a different powder and performs differently. According to the article there is an improvement in accuracy and decrease in recoil, although both are by a slim margin.

I use the light Magnums in my 444 for elk, because they group well and are a decent round. While another super ammo product may be a good thing, placement is still the key, and will never be substituted by a "super" bullet.

Does it say "not for semi autos" like the light mag stuff does?
