Hey Hoosiers!
« on: November 20, 2009, 12:24:13 AM »
Was in the process of buying a knife from Dinny and seen at the bottom of his post that we have our own forum, cool. Frequent GB a lot for Handi info etc. and am a deer hunting fool. Just wanted to say Hey!

What part of the state do you hale from? We have a lot of deer crazy people in the NE corner (Steuben, LaGrange, Noble, Dekalb) of the state and lots of deer. I have a couple of Handis that I mess with.

Hey Laotto: I am a displaced Hoosier who, when the wind is right, can throw a rock and hit IN!  I live in MI, but work in LaGrange COunty--actually my office is in Howe.  I'm still a ridge runner at heart, though!   :D

Glad you found us. Pull up a chair and type away. You are in good company. I also play with a couple Handi's . And search for deer.

Vic 49 - I went to Chicago and on my way back this AM, I saw a small 6 point smeared on US 30 , just West of Warsaw - those truckers really do a number on deer.

theoldarcher - LaGrange is my home town, Howe is just North a few miles from there. I love this part of the state, lots of good hunting and fishing.

Seems like the Warsaw paper has more car deer incidents this time of year than Meth lab busts and around here that takes some doing.

Woodsie57, Howdy. I went down to Lake Monroe about 30 yrs ago. Loved it. Old fishing buddy and I went down for the little 500 and then to Monroe and rented a boat. Hope to make a return trip in the near future. Beautiful area.
Have you seen or heard of any Hogs running around there? If so, ever shot one?
Have heard there were some in your area. I'm gettin hungry for one.
Would be fun to do a little fishing, camping and hog huntin down there.
Today is probably gonna be our last best day in Indiana weather. Enjoy

Well,as for hogs, I hear strong rumors of them in Lawrence county, but, since there's only a limited #of them, it seems those who know aren't saying much. Still a novelty hunting opportunity, more prospective hunters than pigs. That may change. I actually know somebody that shot one, [daughters boyfriend] so, it's more than a rumor, in fact.. To clarify, a pig got shot, not a boyfriend......

I know when the girls were dating. If their boyfriends said they shot a pig, I would wonder who's? LOL :D

When my daughter was dating she said every time a boy showed up at our house I was on the couch cleaning my shotgun. Sort of weeded them out a little.

My daughter is only 4mths old, I'm getting some good ideas here that will not be forgotten. ;)

Thanks, Dinny

Just keep a gun and cleaning kit close to your chair. When the boys come calling  you pull the gun out and start cleaning ;) I have also done this a few times. Turns out most of them ended up hunting with me ;) That way I knew where they were.
