Green shows up best for me. Yellow is almost invisible and red kinda washes out as well. Red ramp front sights on handguns are next to useless to me. Orange would be much better than red but green to me shows best of all.

I use a Red [almost like hot-pink] fiber-optic sight on the RSR-454 and a Green one on the BFR-475.
I can't say I prefer one over the other. I like them both a lot.

Experience only with green and orange (?).........green is much easier to pick up for me.  Try a F/O front with a "one ragged hole " rear ,  works real well.   regards

I shoot several handguns competitions, and found an article a year or two ago about this topic. The article stated the human eye will pick up the green quicker or easier. I had used red fiber optics and changed to green and found that I found the front sight quicker. I only use fiber optics on the front sight, plain black rear.

Well my experience with my bow sights using fiber optics is that Green is the best.  The Red really produces a glare or "Halo" effect in low light.  Yellow isn't as bright as other colors.

If green weren't easier for most to see they wouldn't be able to charge more than twice as much for green lasers as they do for red lasers.

green as it will blend into the ground when it falls off when it gets bumped against something which it eventually will. Hopefully not just before a trophy shows up.

A good point to cover since we are starting to switch between a fiber optic verse a Led such as an electronic dot. That fiber optic on the crossman I mentioned has to be a good 50moa. While it is great on bird size game within air rifle ranges, it hardly makes for a precise sight that you might want to use to take a 100yd shot at a deer with as it simply covers up too much of the target at a distance.

The (Green option) on my Bushnell Trophy red dot is very precise at the longer ranges because I can turn it down to 3moa. It is practically worthless in the daylight but excellent for dawn\dusk conditions.

With These Considerations In Mind...I would go with the Red and put up with the halo now & again depending on how well it will shoot at the range under these conditions.

Everybody's eye's are different. If you can, try all 3 and see what works best for you. You might see one best in low light, and another in bright light. How's that for confusing things.  gypsyman

Where I used to work, we did colored inserts on front sights.  The best seller was the green hands down.  If I am not mistaken, most fiber optic front sights the inserts can be changed at will.  Buy one of each color and change them as your light conditions change. 8)

i did a lot of research on this topic before i got my FO sights on my Razorback which I use for hunting.

the general consensus is that the GREEN sights are better for the human eye to pick out over varying light levels.

that being said, Fusion accidentally put RED on my Razorback when installing and I got my first handgun deer with it last season. ive never had a SINGLE problem with my RED FO sight and could see it brightly even during extremely low light.

Try all three if you can... the nice thnig is that different FO inserts are cheap/free and easy to change out.

GREEN Red disapears in low light and the Green looks like it is running on battarys.

1.  Florescent Green
2.  Florescent Orange

Forget yellow and Red.

(30 yrs ago I put white out on the ft. sight of a black powder rifle, you guessed it... It snowed.  I scraped it off and used black in the snow)
