garrison cannon?
« on: November 21, 2009, 01:58:13 AM »
Hi again, from the hills of Tenn.........i started making a wheel feild carraige for this 15" cannon barrel......but after looking around on this site, I think "I'm barking up the wrong tree"~ this should be a garrison cannon with the tiny steel wheels.like on a ship???

was it this pictures ??

kaintuck
do you have any more dimensions
even if it aint a shooter that could be changed if you got access to a lathe
with a thick steel liner it could be a useable cannon

15" long, with a approx 3/4" bore, touch hole drilled. weighs around 7lbs.
I don't know anybody to do the insert thing....but i thought about it!...a order from numrich arms parts would get me a short piece of BP barrel, and it could be threaded and plugged, then sleeved into this barrel......alotta work~

from what I can see the barrel seem thick enough
its probably 2,5" in diameter around the chamber , is that correct ??
is it a cast or machined bore ??

Well kiantuck , I'll pile on too ! ;D If you can get on a lathe you could clean that tube up alittle .

Even a auto grinder will work if you dont have a lathe .......hee hheee heee sorry .

That gun DD posted should be illegal , if I was a little kid and my dad had come home with a lawnbomb like that........it wouldnt have been good . ::)

Correct. Actually, wooden wheels on shipboard carriages are referred to as "trucks" (presumably (?) because they resemble the cap on the top of a wooden mast, also known as a truck).
