Remington small rifle primer 61/2
« on: November 21, 2009, 04:43:59 AM »
I was in a sporting good store the other day and on the shelf was several cartons of small rifle primer Reminton brand 6 1/2. Would this size be okay for reloading a 223 and if, so what powder combination would be okay? The reloading books I have list the small rifle primer to use for 223 as Remington 7 1/2.

Not a good choice for the 223 round , the 6 1/2 were designed for rounds like the 22 Hornet and 22 Rem Jet , and will do a desent job for some Handgun rounds but will not take the pressure and case thrust of the 223 or larger cases .

Remington does Not recommend them, for anything over the 22 Hornet pressure range.
