Where to buy locking lugs for a TC???

Anyone know where I can get locking lugs for a Contender barrel?  I have one barrel (famous brand 300 "quite") that takes both hands and a good grunt to open, whereas my other barrel (stock .44 mag) pops right open one handed, as it is supposed to do.
I took the lugs out of the "quite" barrel and where the pin crosses them, they are not evenly made, or not evenly matched. Boss must have been out of the shop that day.

I called T/C just last week requesting some of these and was quoted a price per set, so apparently their starting to charge for them.  Previously I had read that they were free.  Maybe it was just the person I was talking to or...

For what it's worth, based on the schematics I also ordered the bolt roller, part #58.  This part is not necessary, it's been incorporated into the design of the 'new' lugs, or bolts, parts #23R & 23L as their referred to in the schematic.

All the custom barrel makers would have them, but for their own use so I doubt they would sell them.   Sounds like the barrel needing the lugs is not a TC factory barrel, so you might try the maker who made it.    Otherwise I'd bet you can buy them from TC.   Jim Henry might also sell them.   He's a TC smith in Barstow, CA.


If TC is charging now for replacement parts for factory barrels it's probably because so many people have taken advantage of their warranty (for what should not have been warranty) for so long that S&W finally drew the line.
