It supposed to be played a few more times this weekend.

IMO, It can add a lot of insight as to why we fight, to the struggle of the average soldier, and to the real horror of war.

And being digitally enhanced in color just seems to add to the perspective of an already excellent documentary.

Been watching, recorded some of it! The Personal insights are intriguing.

one of my promisies years ago was to right a book about those heros. so i spent many years talking to them ones on both sides. i was a kid and stupid. i did not write it down nor record it...i have regreted that evert since.

one old man who is dead now was small in stature meek looking to say the least. many of the younger men made fun of him. they never new that he was a 19 year fighter pilot during WWII with many decorations and i forget just how many jap zero he had shot down during the MAriannas Turket Shoot as it was called. He also had been shot down twice. he invited me to his home and he open a chest that contained all his medals and commendations as well as the 38 he wore starpped to him in his plane. we talked many many days and he made me promise never to tell his son or anyone else. He told me he did not even know where Pearl Harbor was but when it was bombed and they had been talking peace at that time he just felt he had to avenge the deaths of those people. He said he was cocky as heck at first but soon got scared and neve until he was relieved to come home every lose being scared every day.

See his son was a doper and anti war anti god anti country and thought just like the others that made fun of his father. I asked him why he did not tell his son and he said he tried but his son told him he did not want to hear it. This he said was in the middle of the anti war 60's and that he knew that his son was just scared of being drafted and scared of getting hurt or killed. To this day that boy...(man now?) lives about 7 miles from me and still does not know that his father was 19 years old and meeting each day as if it were his last and still getting back into his plane and doing what had to be done. His father like so many millions of those old men we have watched limping down the streets were in fact "HEROS".

Sounds interesting. I will see it when I get a chance. Just finished watching "Patton 360" since my father fought along Patton's tanks through Germany. Fascinating.
