Let's get a season update from the Jawja boys!
« on: November 22, 2009, 06:05:48 AM »
Hey guys!  I'm beginning to wonder if there's anybody left from Jawja around here!  :-\  How's the season going for everybody?  ???

I haven't been in 2 weeks, and won't get to go until the end of the month.   :(  And, according to our trail cams, the deer went almost completely nocternal after the first week or two of the season.

That's kinda bad since I still need a doe and a fawn or two for the freezer...

I'd say we need to change our tactics, try something new, but trying to get 3 fat old men out of a comfortable stand ain't real easy...  :-\

How's everybody else doing?

Hey Atlaw, I was thinking the same thing. Seems that everyone is either busy hunting or they moved away. :-\ This post has been slow for a few weeks now.

So far I put a doe in the freezer during the opening weekend. I have been working late most days and Saturdays so hunting has been slow. The past few times I haven't seen anything but turkeys, rabbits and possums. The deer are moving mid day and later in the evening after dark. I'm going to change my strategy this week. During the hoidays I'm going to hunt through the day and see what happens.

I have been watching an area for the past 3 years and think it's about time to start hunting it. Plenty of good signs with lots of distinguished trails. It's covered in 8 year old pines and under brush. It has been to thick to hunt. >:( I'm looking forward to trying it out. I'm like you, it's hard to leave a good comfortable stand and go sit in the cold elements. ;D

I have taking a Buck and Doe this year. (See best Hunting trip ever in Deer hunting thread). It is hard to post when you are out in the woods.  ;)

I live in the north GA area.  I've seen a couple does and spikes but nothing else.  I mainly hunt a small family farm and didn't want to take anything small due to the fact that I haven't seen many deer in recent years and earlier in the year I got some great trail cam photos.  Of course, once the season started all the big boys disappeared.  At least I think, with all the rain I haven't put my cams back up because the river kept flooding the area.   If I don't get anything soon, I'll have to take a doe to fill the freezer.   I try to take at least one deer a year.   Of course, I'll try to get out a couple times over thanksgiving, this seems to always be the week that the rut kicks in hard.

 Good luck to ya'll.

You Jawja boys do seem to be MIA around here lately. I hope it's jist cuz you're all out hunting. Heck I might even get out to hunt a day or three this season myself.  ;D Then again I might not like the last few seasons have gone.  ::)

Haven't hunted yet.  My shoulder surgery went well, and I was about to the point of having a go at it, when I had a heart attack.  Now I've got to build my strength back up from that.  Maybe I can get Ted Nugent to come by and tie one in the front yard, and I can shoot at it with my pistol......................

Dang it!!!

About three weeks ago I was at the Kia plant, and thought I was having a muscle spasm in my chest.  I honestly did not think it related to my heart.  I had to sit a while, but after a bit it relaxed.  I could just never get any strength back after that.  Then came the EKG, then the cath and stents and here I am.  Feeling better, actually feel a bit ornery today.  Might get to hunt after all.....
