Lions Reach Sellout for Detroit's 70th Thanksgiving Day Game

First, a big, huge, Congrats to the Lions and all you Lions' fans for the excellent come from behind victory over the Browns. Next, I'm excited about the upcoming game on turkey day when the teams of one of the NFL's longest running rivalries takes place at Ford Field. This will be the 19th time the Lions and the Packers have met on Thanksgiving day and the Lions have won it 11 times. I have to say that this game worries me. Historically, I believe the Lions have the Packer's number when the Lions play at home. And you never know what's going to happen when two division rivals take to the field. I'd hate to see the Packers lose, but if they do, I can't think of nicer bunch of folks (Lions' fans) that deserve to get a few more cheers and a bit more satisfaction from their team this year. You have to believe that I'd never say this about the Queens. Maybe Da Bears, but never the Queens.

Game will air live in the local television markets; Tickets are still available to purchase

Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions have reached a sellout for Thursday’s 70th Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers. By reaching a sellout by today’s 12:30 p.m. deadline, Thursday’s game will air live in the local television markets (Metro Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw/Flint and Toledo markets), including WJBK-TV FOX 2.

Fans still have the opportunity to purchase tickets to Thursday’s game vs. Green Bay. A few hundred tickets returned by the Packers from their ticket allotment are now available to the general public.

Tickets can be purchased on the Internet, over the phone and in person through various Lions and Ticketmaster outlets. To purchase tickets on the Internet, fans can visit either Detroitlions.com or Ticketmaster.com. For phone purchases, the following new toll-free number is available for fans to call and purchase tickets: 800.745.3000. For more information on all of the Lions’ ticket options, fans can visit Detroitlions.com.

This year’s Lions-Packers game on Thanksgiving Day renews a holiday rivalry that dates back to 1951. This year’s game marks the 19th time the Lions have battled the Packers on Thanksgiving, with Detroit holding an 11-6-1 (.647) advantage. The Lions have played Green Bay more than any other opponent in the Thanksgiving Day series.

For 13 consecutive years from 1951-63, the Lions and Packers met on Thanksgiving, with the Lions claiming a 9-3-1 record during that span. The Lions-Packers Turkey Day tilt marks the fourth time since 2001 that the two teams will play in Detroit on Thanksgiving and the third at Ford Field.

The Lions Thanksgiving Day game has sold out in each of the last 15 seasons (since 1994), and it has reached a sellout for every Thanksgiving Day game played at Ford Field (seven since 2002).

Pack v. Lions is always a good game.
Couple the sudden change in weather for Thanksgiving and 11:30 game time should be just about right 

I'm hoping to hunt til about 10:30 (with my other daughter-11 year old-first time hunting ever) and then warm up, watch game, dinner at parents.  Pretty nice Thanksgiving day if you ask me.

That game is usually just a topper to a poor deer season for me. The deer beat me down then the packers finish me off!

I sure hope the Packers don't take this Lions' game lightly. The Pack has already proven that they can find a way to lose on numerous occasions this season. And now Al Harris and Aaron Kampman are out for the season, so that's not going to help.
