After three years of trying I finally got my first deer with my Contender.  A 130 lb doe shot at 15 yards.  Oh by the way you do have to remember to push the safety bar before the darn thing will fire.  I pulled the hammer and tried to let the shot go when the deer was 25 yars away and had to figure what went wrong when it went click.  a short list.  The dumb thing didn't hear the click and kept coming. Too bad so sad,  she is now residing in jars on my pantry shelf.  That 10 in 30-30 with the millet red dot  put her down in her tracks.  Now that my permit is filled I'll be using the 7-30.  I hope everybody else is haveing a successful year.

Glad to see other folks that can their meat.  I quit freezing meat years ago.  My wife seems to enjoy it more, and I can eat it right out of the jar
Thanks!

:) Glad to hear someone else does that silly trick.  Got my 1st buck with pistol- 7-30 waters on Saturday at 125 yds.  My son was going to take the doe with a 300 whisper and pulled the trick of having it on rimfire instead of centerfire.  By the time he figured it out,  doe was long gone.  Went home and 2 does were walking thru my backyard.  Grabbed the 7-30 contender and went out the front door.   Pulled it up,  pulled the trigger on one doe only to have it go click.  Selector was still centered and not on either centerfire or rimfire.  Both does heard click and high tailed it into woods.  We could of had 3 deer that morning and ended up with one.  But at least we have something to laugh over about the hunt.     Be Safe   Ed
