« on: November 23, 2009, 02:48:49 PM »
Got my .30 cal Brass Hex from Michael, the Irishman, today in the mail, it's a cutie! Very well made, nice looking! Can't wait till I get some tutoring in posting pics, and I'll put some up. Got a possible carriage for it already, too! BoomLover

BoomLover, We are working on a carriage as well. Soon will post for 'stocking stuffer' for Christmas, as a FC launcher. With the added barrel length, this gets almost 1000 shots/ pound of ffg! The same barrel with 30 grains SPEAKS for such a little one. Great for Back Yard Cannon Fun and as an entry level learning device too!

I got one too ! only smaller .22 . I got to get to wyoming to buy some lady fingers ! Micro Backyard fun . ;D

i have been on .....good behavior ever since a friend of mine made a loud noise in my backyard , to where the po pos was circling the block trying to home in on the large long tall and grey Mushroom cloud rising from .... somewhere (read above ..way) ;D around my backyard . At least one neighbor saw fit to call the fuzz . They may have had sirens on  , but as I was deaf at the time I can not say for sure .

One neighbor questioned me about it .........and I did what I've had to do several times, that hast saved me on many occasions ...."I thought up a lie ,and I thought it up quick ...." and explianed the noise away as a misgiving from my furnace .  ::)

I'm thinking did you actually hear this noise ? and are buying my load of excremaent ?  This is not a nuclear furnace ,and DAMN I'm glad you are buying this hokem .

Another neighbor was seen to wander about her backyard looking for a crater ......OR flamming gas leak/explosion in the earth ! Luckly I am on good terms with this neighbor and we laughed !!! but the first one ....not so much .

So if Trac.....er I mean anyone trys to shatter the glass for three blocks in all directions .....well it been done B4 .

So I have not shot anything ...much  ;)....in my backyard since ...The Blast !

Come on over anytime Mike ...just let me know if you intend to bring ....Mr. Kunze with you . as I'll pour him a beer the next time he asks ....!

He wants to turn big ol fat atoms into ...nothing but expended energy IN MY backyard .  :o

The birds were not happy !

In response to Rocklock's whopper of a story above, all I said, as the cloud rose above Gary's house, and as I disappeared into the dark confinement of his basement, is this:

"Ooh, I love to dance the little sidestep / Now they see me, now they don't / I've come and gone / And ooh, I love to sweep around a wide step / Cut a little swath / And lead the people on!"

Yes indeed, Charles Durning is one of my favorite actors and his role in Dolly Parton's movie as the Texas Governor, is one of my very favorites roles.

Other than that, I have no information to shine a light on the incident that closed down "Bombardment Meadows", which is what we used to fondly call Gary's backyard.  Listen-up, Double D;  I may have had a couple egg-salad sandwiches and some beer that afternoon, but I really doubt that had anything to do with 'The Incident'.

Back to the subject at hand,  BoomLover we really love the looks of the .30 cal, brass hex shaped tube and Michael, as we have said before, we love your designs and your latest brass wonder is truly magnificent.   If we can get Gary to order one of those SAMCC cannons, we certainly would volunteer to be on his crew.  The re-opening of 'Bombardment Meadows' and that beauty's first firing, however, must surely come only after he has secured the approval of SWMBO!

Tracy and Mike
Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!

If you could please share what piece of ordinance could be used to replicate the "incident" it would be helpful to those of us who have a place to duplicate such an "incident".

Well it appears we have a problem here.  Someone is running a nuclear furnace?  I do hope one has a said license to run said nuclear furnace.  Could be mucho trouble from the Feds if one were running a nuclear furnace without proper certification from proper government office.

Now since I am a person who trains people in the operation of a nuclear power plant I might be more than willing to offer my services to aid in this project.  For the appropriate fee of course.  Like just being there when things go B-O-O-O-M.

RocklockI I think I have a neighbor like you. I can't imagine what those loud explosions are if not a cannon or mortar of some sort. Way too loud for any shoulder fired weapon I've ever seen. They almost seem to have a tone to them as if something is exploding inside a large can not unlike what an aresol can might sound like exploding inside a burn barrel but I really don't think that's the explanation.

I must say tho at times the next comes kinda fast for someone to reload a cannon or mortar but then I've not really watched anyone loading one so guess I don't know how fast it can be done by someone really wanting to make more noise. I never have figured out just where it's coming from or if I should some day expect a cannon ball to fall on my house. I have found a LOT of golf balls laying around all over my property but haven't seen any powder burns on them.
