SB1 or SB2??
« on: November 24, 2009, 12:40:04 AM »
I traded an old semi-auto .22 (Sears 6c) for an NEF single shot .410.  The guy says his .223 bull barrel fits it, but I want to be certain the frame can handle it.  The only thing I can find out about it is the year of manufacture (NF=1992).  Here is the serial: NF217676.  It has the multi-colored hardened look of it on the frame, but I can't tell if it's cast or steel.  I checked against a cast iron skillet and both are magnetic.  Please help!

If it is like my 410 it is an sb1. I believe it is in the FAQ's on how to tell the difference between the two. Lots of good info there. Check it out.

Most likly SB1. I do not believe any SB2 frames were case colored till the Mid 2000's. Even if the bbl fits it is not likley to be able to stand the pressure of the 223. 22 Hornet 357 44mag trapdoor 45/70 and the 30-30 should be ok though.Check the faq's for lots more information.  Kurt
