My buddy's wife scored a coon.

I took a friend and his wife out the other night for some coon calling. Didnt get much responses but got this male to be interested. She sent a 22 mag right through the skull and that was that......

+1  Some do it to get together, some to get away. I taught my wife to shoot, she doesn't want to hunt.

When I was going with my wife I taught her to shoot. She even when hunting with me when she was the age of the young lady in the pitcure, but that has been many years ago and it`s been many years since she has been hunting, about 33 years if I rember right.

a huntin woman is hard to find. but to be honest id rather have one that wud stay in the house and keep it up whilst im out hunting.if she cud cook up a coon as good as my ole grama id prob marry her in a heartbeat.

Very Nice! I'm planning on calling coon this season. Is fur prime now or does it get any better when it gets colder? I went upstairs a while ago and had to come back down. It seems noisy up there- Oh they call that talking.

I have found that coons will generally do one of 2 things when calling for them.  They will either climb a tree to see what the ruckus is all about.  Or they will charge the call. Usually males will do this.  It's a territory thing.  When they go into there mating season, the boars can get quite PO'd at the sounds of other coons fighting in their areas.  I would say that 80% of the time, I find them looking in the trees looking at the direction of the call.  However, when you do get one to charge, it's quite an adreneline pumper.

As far as the fur prices goes, I'm not in that market.  I hunt the coons then give them (fur still on the carcass) to a friend that sells them to fur buyers.  I'm in it for the population control, helping the turkey pops, and doing skulls for those that want them.
