Plus I gots to get more copper "all bright" they call it from the local recycling yard ,and propane .

In the last couple days I finished the Moko Flask ..... You 'can' buy one

I know it doesn't look like much .....but it is !

It has to be as perfect as the origanal wax positive . For some very certain reasons .....

NOTHING EVER GETS ANY BETTER THAN PERFECT ,anything LESS will only go downhill in 'the next' proccess , this is a game of recreating a serries of the origanal positives and making everything as good as you can make it . Or at least Perfect !

Even the flask could cause a complete disaster ....! OF THE WORST KIND !!!!!

Oh yea and 10 more lbs of 'all bright' copper .

another 10 lbs of copper and I'll be able to to fill up the crucible . 3+bucks a pound x 30lbs right at 100 dollars then the tin on top of that .

I finaly got some filters ,just a small sample but I will use them on morko !!!!!!!! Gary

I don't really care for the car either - mainly the black stripe that makes it look like a yellow jacket. Nobody's perfect, right?

Folks like you are ..almost welcome to wail on the car . I love it 40 mpg . The only real problem is you MUST come out of 4th at 101mph .....that only leaves 5th .....to go fast !

Ask for "allbright" . Copper electrical wire IS what you want . Pass on plumbing Copper , not as pure .

Gary, If you are ever a little shy of a full crucible of pure copper just before a big pour, you can always use a little high school chemistry to make up four or five pounds of pure Cu to melt. It’s called a ‘single replacement reaction’ and basically involves the immersion of iron (Steel) bits, filings, and cut offs with a solution of Copper Sulfate which you can get in paper bags like fertilizer. A couple of plastic buckets, 10 of 15 pounds of Free iron filings and bits from your pals in Broomfield, some solution and one little, nylon fish tank skimmer net to gather the pure copper precipitate and you’re all set! Just takes about 5 or 6 days, that’s all.

Fe + CuSO4 to FeSO4 + Cu

The iron dissolves, leaving a grayish sludge, (iron sulfate) and pure copper.

yes , gary is totally right at this
its just electrical wires thats pure enough for mixing bronze
all plumbing parts as knees and pipes are copper alloys and not pure copper
so to really be sure of what alloy you gets when mixing your own bronze I recomend pure virgin tin and a copper that you know is just pure copper
tin is so much more difficult to find in the scrap yard, 99,9% of everything you find there is alloys with lead and antimon , so please just use virgin tin

hey whats this recepie ??
I dont know much about chemistry , but it sounds interesting
how will the price be compared to buying scrap copper at the scrap yard ??

I'd think cutting it in lengths that match the length of the box would enable you to fit as much as feasible in each box, since "he with the forge" would be the addressee, not the addresser.

In fact, you should be able to fit much more than 70lb in each box this way, even using the medium sized boxes (which could hold approximately 160lb of copper is it were a solid chunk the dimensions of the box), so I'd go with those, since the shipping costs are lower than the large ones, and you'll need just as many boxes whether you use the medium or the large, since you're restricted by weight not volume.

The problem is Gary needed 2 gloves, and the ove glove only comes with one.

(Actually, at the cost of those, the ones Gary got were probably cheaper ($34.50), and are likely better (800*F steady 1000*F momentary contact):

To cut that copper up unravel the wires from the cable . then snip them up with side cutter or dykes ,whatever . Copper hit 3 bucks per 2 weeks ago so you should get while you can .
