First trigger job!!

Hello everyone,
  I stumbled through my first Handi rifle trigger job tonight.  It only took me 3 hours. :o Well now for the bad news....I followed the directions from the FAQs to the "T" until I got tired of taking it apart and putting it together 5 times. I thought that I wasn't taking enough steel off, if any, so I got a little aggressive with the honing. Now sometimes when the hammer will stay locked back  ::), I have a very light trigger pull.

So bottom line, question of the day, where do I get a new hammer? ;D :D  I'll try Numrich's first, then maybe Brownells. :-X

I'll have to order a few and keep them handy in case I get the urge to do this to another rifle of mine.

Those are the only two sources, H&R won't sell em since they require "fitting".

Tim,
  What kind of fitting do they require?  Something more than trigger pull adjustments, or are you being sarcastic and making fun of H&R?

That's just their policy on some parts, if you download a manual from their website, parts are listed at the bottom of the page with notations to that effect.  ::)

  I had to think about it a minute, but I did finally sence the sarcasm. Policies....who needs them? ::)

Its a good time to "upgrade" to thet M58 lo-pro hammer!!!

I know what you mean, sometimes its a drag re-assembling so many times. But now you see why we say go slow! LOL

once upon a time, i did a trig job and after i found my favorite pull of 4lbs.
i mic'd the area... since then i have done several at that size, some worked the same and some needed more
but i have had to start over, a few times too.... :P
 like CW said...GO-SLOW... is all i can tell ya...

at least its good your a DIY kinda guy... ;D
brownell's is were i have got them in the past.
