Oh touchie  ;D right ? thats what one says when one is skewered ,right ?

That last line was near genius D ! That's a good one ! Garise will rule if givin a chance .

How's this ? ,

'I know ,that I clearly , dont understand that I misunderstood , and you are misunderstood too , clearly .   THE THING YOU REPORT TO BE TRUE IS ONLY SO IF ONE IS A FOOL .'

Cause , be your "reason' is not absolute . Things thought  maybe understood ?  May be misinterpeted still .

I shall make allowance for your short commings .  Please continue to live and prosper . :D

Ok now back to the topic :P

here are some of the specs (from Doms site)  http://blackpowder-cannons.com/products.htm

Replica Sledge Base Fortress Cannon (muzzleloader)
Barrel Length            :  9"
Bore size                   : .750"  (.75 caliber)

Maximum Grains
Ball charge                :  100 FFg
Salute charge            :  200 FFg

Approximate weight  : 15 lbs.

I am looking at those wads and thinking of ordering them soon.
I have another problem... I went to local store to get more powder (Goex ffg) and they are out and have no idea when they will get any  :'(
I tired searching out any stores anywhere near here and even on west coast :S
Any near here had no Goex powder and the ones on the west coast said they can't ship here due to regulations...
I am in trouble or will have to wait it out  :'(
No one ships to Canada as far as I know from the US so that one is out the door also.
Can I use fffg?
I know it runs higher presure but it seems they have lots of fffg but no ffg

Do you ever get to the states ?

fff is not ideal but it will work ,cut the charge back and load with loose powder as a foil wraped charge will start getting pretty thin .

FWIW I'd buy all the 3f you can , it sounds like it could get even wierder for you up there .

My Favorite Canadian

IKE LOVED Munich !

Gary

ETA agian I though we were talking 1.75" sorrry 3f will be no problem anyway .

Winter Peg!

Isn't there a Cabela's in Winnipeg? Don't they have it?  I know a lot of Canadian use to pick it up in the Cabela's in East Grand Forks, MN and bring it across to CA.

Also isn't there a Cowboy Shooting club in Winnepeg or a Muzzleloaders club?  check with them.

You might also want to post the question on http://britishmilitariaforums.yuku.com/forums/30 .  I know there are a bunch of Canadians that hang out on that board and they can tell you where to look.

Another place to check is http://brasswithclass.com/contact.php.  They make cannons and surely have a source for BP.

Yes there is a Cabelas in Winter pig as I like to call it but they have no stock of ffg at the moment so my choice is fffg or wait or try to find other supplier.
I will try the other links you helped me with also.
Thank you very much.
So anyone wish to verify if using fffg is safe? and what is a good plan one how much to use if 200 grains of ffg is max?
what would max be of fffg?

Sorry , I erased my post as I was confussed and thought we were talking 1.75" not .75 never mind Gary ::)

.if you are only talking .75 you can definatly use 3f  , I have in my Brown Bess . Not 200 grains but still thats not going to be a problem .

Put 100 grs to start .

yes it is a 0.75 bore but the wall on the barrel is thick:

The sledge base cannon with 0.75 barrel is the one I picked up and I love it.
But being new to this I can use all the help and advice I can get so I don't get in to too much trouble :)

Keep in mind that when you use a faster burning powder you will have an increase in pressure, but no change in velocity.  If you change to FFFg you will have to reduce your charge substantially.

It's better to go up in grade to Fg than go down.

There is a  lot of barrel length difference between a Brown Bess and a Small cannon.

Thhere is a lot of difference between a rifle held in arms and a free recoiling cannon becoming a secondary projectile.

Be sure to note that 100 grains is a maximum load and not a starting load with a ball. Start substanially lower.  i would start a 25 grains and work up at say 5 grains at a time.

For noise I would start with 50grains and a card wad and work up.
