fine day in the country
« on: October 20, 2003, 08:55:24 AM »
Hello boys,

Saturday was a fine day on the high plains for some sanity maintenance.  I had a few guys out to my place in the country and we shot levers and revolvers from noon to sundown.  In between we roasted all manner of charred animal flesh on an open fire, and had the ball games on the radio.

We used baloons tied to a horizontal rope for targets, and I never got so tired of tying baloons in my life.  We musta used up 3 or 4 hundred of them at ranges of 40 to 75 yards.  Those baloons movin' in a prairie breeze at 75 yards were kinda tuff to hit, ya gotta wait'em out till they MIGHT get still for a second, them try to blast'em.

I used a ketchup squeeze bottle full of baby powder, and put some in each baloon, and they looked a little like smoke when they were hit.  All lin all, it was a great day, we're gonna do it again in a few weeks.

I'd like to know what other kinds of targets you guys use when you're at the range.
