He blew it. Now starts the downward spiral

After exercising obvious bad judgment on Afghanistan it is now time for Obama to pay the political price. It is now too late for any good political decision that might help him. Here's a note from today's USA Today. He doesn't seem to know what the job is, so there can be no finishing it:

WASHINGTON — Public approval of President Obama's handling of the war in Afghanistan has plummeted, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, amid rising pessimism about the course of the conflict.

The nation is divided over what to do next: Nearly half of those surveyed endorse deploying thousands of additional U.S. troops, while four in 10 say it's time to begin withdrawing forces.

The mixed picture comes as the president weighs a request from the top U.S. commander for about 40,000 more troops. Obama said Tuesday he would announce his decision after Thanksgiving.

"It is my intention to finish the job," he said.

Along the line of supporting Obama. I don't get it. The blacks that I work with make the same pay level that I do and get taxed at the same rate that I do. They support him solely because he is black. They "earn" checks and the only place the money can be taken from to support his programs is from thier paycheck ,just as mine. How can they be made to understand this? eddiegjr

it's the population size, relative to everyone else

about seventy percent of america is white, twelve percent is black..... yeah they pay taxes but they get favored status in regards to social programs AND affirmative action to keep their jobs (doctors and fire-fighters, probably lots of others) so they get a pretty good deal.  it's like a lottery with a lot of people putting a little bit of money in individually but a few of them are gonna split a huge jackpot when the money is redistributed

Somewhere in the GBO archives, you'll find a post I made, sometime right around election last year. I said that the first one's that are going to scream the loudest, would be his supporters. In an interview with Greta Van Sustern just yesterday, Carl Rove mentioned that the white supporters of Obama has dropped 21%. Black support had dropped 7%. This guy is like wrong way Corrigan. No matter which way he runs, he's going to get it wrong. And, he hasn't even been in a year. What with the trials of the terrorists going to take place in New York City, the climate change meeting coming up, and he's going to announce what he's going to do in Afgahnistan next week, he's really going to pi** off alot of people. I was born in 84 so I don't remember the carter administration but the nra hates him and from the little bit of reading I've done he seems like a douche. ... are you sure he's number two gypsyman?  number two living maybe, I was was thinking that LBJ or Woodrow Wilson for number one until obama actually DOES something he said he would (so far he's just trying to get support for stupid things, hasn't got an bs laws passed yet)

I do agree that obama has the potential to be number one though

I hope you have but we'll see- remember that congress will probably lost the dem majority so obama might just get pushed around enough that people forget his idiocy (if he's put in check for his last two years people will forget about him- don't think the average voter has any appreciable attention span)

I hope that congress puts a leash on him and we get a good president in 2012 but we're two years off, anything can happen

The OTHER party really needs to find someone who can and will get the wheels back on this thing, we really don't need another bush idiot either. Iraq was a really stupid thing to do all we really needed to do there was arm the kurds and let them handle that job (you know like his dad PROMISED to do)

ARM THE KURDS, man that's like what we did in afghanistan, arm the people who are enemies of enemies- which is great but then when we need to put them into submission they'll be armed and they're not sissies like the last guys  shhhh


yeah we could just knock out the tyrants and their runners up, but that's not a good game plan for global "co-operation".  we could just stop the disguised imperialism altogether but REALLY that's not gonna happen. 

wish it would though.  you're right about bush.  I really did agree with a lot of his "moral" standpoints and opinions but his operational objectives for applying them over here and in the middle east caused a lot of problems.  I could flip a coin and like him or not, it's 50/50, but then I think about the patriot act and that ruins it.

BOTH Clintons are still around, as long as obama is for sure, and so is holder and emanuel too

they changed the face of the progressive/socialist movement within america and that's it, same perogative and programs to push

the clintons have been around for over two decades, they'll be a problem until they go down from old age (like ted kennedy )
