Again I need information about the value of a gun. I want to thank you for the response you made to the Model 28. I am considering the purchase of a Smith & Wesson k22 model 17. He said it was in excellent shape and a 1950s purchase. Can anyone help with value etc. Thanks. I have not seen the gun nor has he put a price to it, but he is known for excellent guns.

Rev : From the blue book of values ( model 17 K-22 masterpiece-- 22 lr cal. blue only 6 shot 4 in mafg (1986-93) 6in current mfg. or 83/8 100% 4390 down tto 60% at $175 add $39 for full lug 6in barrel (w/TT & TH) add %50 for full lug 83/8 barrel with TT & TH

If it is really that old it will have a pinned barrel. Last new one I bought and sold went for $300 a long time ago (10 years at least). Last one I saw sell went for $320 I believe and it was new in box. There was a guy at a gunshow had both the Model 17 and Model 14 both new on the table. He wanted $300 for the Model 14 which came home with me. There was a collector standing behind me chomping at the bits wanting me to get out of the way as he wanted both since they were both unfired. I bought the .38 Special and brought it home to shoot. He got the .22RF I'm sure never to be fired as long as he owns it.

Both were 6". For sure I'd not pay more if used at all than $300. Not sure I would pay that unless it was darn near like new.

GB's numbers are consistent with what I see in Minnesota. $300 is typical.

this is not a resonse to the question--
i have the .22 in a 1954 k frame that my uncle gave me years ago--it doesn't have all tha blue. i love it. it is a fun shooter. usetabe real accurate but the older i get the less accurate tha thang gets. you can sure shoot a lot at a lot of varments without a lotta money spent--but i like a .22 fer plinkin. that k frame is a goodun.
