Hey there:
Get you a 30 Herrett. Making brass is no big thing. Easy to do, just take some time, and make a big batch. You don't even need forming dies. Now, it's much easier than years ago when I got mine. Now, instead of using a hacksaw, I use the good ole Dremel and/or my Sawsall battery powered. Matter of fact, it's a good therapy making the cases. Make sure you do everything right after you cut off the excess 30-30 casings.
By that, I mean, size cases to get them in gun, and after that, just necksize. This is really my favorite deer gun. It'll kill em just as dead as a 460 Weatherby Mag. I've never had one to run after shooting him, well, maybe a yard or two. Most dropped in their tracks. Now, I'm not a cowboy shooter, I pick my shots, and am committed to being a humane hunter.
I love this cartridge, matter of fact I'm loading a bunch up now, because another thing I'm all for, is practice, practice, practice, and then practice some more. You'll get to a point, when you put the crosshairs on a deer, you know you've got him. Confidence is something you cannot buy, you have to practice, practice, practice.
