Don't know where you are from, but  in this area .41's go for a little less  because they seem to be out of favor right now. The prices at KTP are representitive for the North East perhaps, and you can take a gander there as they usually have one, or three. Ktp.com, and look for the used guns tab on the toolbar.

Without knowing more than "1969 .41 mag"   It's hard to say but a general value would be about what's said above.  I've seen 'em as low as $300 and as high as...well high. ;)   Box, condition, converted (parts included if done) all factor in.

Certainly not representitive of MA prices.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a 99% early New Blackhawk in .41 Mag, 6.5 inch barrel, for $325 here in western WA state.  They had it in stock unsold for a while, too.  The older versions, such as the one made in 1969 bring more money if they still have their original action and haven't been back to the factory for a transfer bar safety conversion.  I saw one of these with about 75% original finish for about $500 on the same table where I bought the New Blackhawk mentioned above.  Some people will pay the premium for a "four clicker" action but I'm not one of them.

Since the OP's deal involves a relative, that can turn it into a completely different matter, can it not?

I think 41s are probably in demand here in Wyo lately. A retired cop killed a griz that was attacking him with a 41 last summer.

When it was new, it cost @ $97.  My dad bought his 357 about then.  $300 today would not be an unrealistic price.

A "collector quality" example would, w/o box, be worth $500+, IMHO.
A 4-5/8" barrel version commands a slight premium, as well.

I bought a 6.5" that was made in the mid-90's a few weeks ago...paid $300 for it and thought it was a deal....shot it and it siezed up...sent to ruger for repair..just got the quote today...$67 in parts and labor plus shipping...I'll have them refinish for $130 as well....some deal....

What parts does it need?  Most can be a DIY fix.  If it needs refinishing then it wasn't worth the $300 regardless.
