what is the difference

I am sure this will be a stupid question to all of you but what is the difference between the encore pistol and contender pistols have looked at both at different times just curious any help would be appreciated and be nice i am dumb to anything T/C. have never owned one.

seems like alot more calibers for the contender over the encore but more hi power calibers for the encore

Any cartridge suitable for the Contender can be had in the Encore but not the other way around.

I think the biggest advantage with the Contender is if you want to shoot rimfire cartridges.  In the Contender, it's easy to switch between centerfire and rimfire and the barrels don't look different.  You can get rimfire barrels for the Encore but they have a stupid hump in them; I personally wouldn't have one.

The Encore frames can handle much more powerful cartridges, but it has a heavier frame.  The Contender makes a lighter, handier firearm if you're not interested in really high power cartridges.

I'm a big Contender fan, my brother loves his Encores.  However, most of my Contenders are set up as pistols, his Encores are set up as rifles.  Now if I needed a 30-06, 7mm Mag, etc. (which I don't need right now) I would be shopping for an Encore.  Most of my hunting situations can be handled within 200 yards, so I choose to shoot 30-30, 375 Winchester, 7x30 Waters in my Contenders.

The internals of the new G2 Contender and Encore are almost the same. Outside appearance looks very similar except the G2 shorter and lighter.  The G2 is a better fit in small hands as the trigger reach on the Encore has a long reach.

The G2 will only handle low pressure rounds such as 30-30Win, 7-30Waters, 223Rem., 22Hornet, etc., there are more caliber choices can be had.  Then there are several wildcats that do not exceed the working pressure. I think the G2 Contender really shines with the rim fire barrels over the Encore.

The bigger, longer, heavier Encore can handle most, but not all cartridges available.

I own and shoot several G2's and Encores pistols. Making my own grips and forearms I can adjust for the long trigger pull. When hunting the steep mountains in WV. I prefer the smaller G2.  Hunting rolling hills and meadows I'll opt for the Encore. For small game with a R.F. I'll carry the G2.

thanks for the info you all are very helpful have a guy wanting to sell 30-30 contender for $350 plus transfer fees.but wasn't sure which about the differences.
