Are barrels available in 50s&w? Is the frame wide enough for a 50? I'll call ED next week.

If you are talking about the 500 S&W not in a Contender.

Would the felt recoil of the 500s&w be more than a 30-30? 375 Winchester?

I have a 500 S&W mag in a factory 15" ported Encore barrel.  Not the most fun barrel I have to shoot, but does group well until the pain and flinch sets in - if you are not careful.  Would definitely put the wallop on a deer but not a shoot all day from the bench gun, just my opinion.

Yea; a LOT more.  The recoil of a 500 S&W Magnum with a brake is similar to that of a 375 JDJ without a brake if that helps.

Ouch, I think I'll just stay with the 44. I know heavy bullets have heavy recoil.
