1863 Remmie Pocket Pistol ?
« on: November 29, 2009, 01:11:55 PM »
Anyone ever chronograph this little remmie.I have packed mine with about 12 gr of 777 a wad and ball.It will put a neat little hole in a 1 gallon milk container full of water. It just got me curious to know what the pipsqueak can do.I don't think I will try with more of the 777.I would think if I can get some accuracy out of it it could be a garden gun or for the filthy pigeons hanging around the farm.

This is for a Colt Baby Dragoon .31....
"My guess is when the first frontiersmen looked at the 48 grain round ball and 14 grain powder charge normal for a Baby Dragoon they thought, "Give up my Bowie knife for that? Yeah, right." But; the tiny .31 surprised us in actual tests. From 15 feet, that charge of Swiss FFFg black-powder pushed the 48 grain .323" diameter ball to 760 fps. It also lodged in the third pine board."

Just reread my OP and I see I made a mistake on the charge I was using. It was 7grs not 12.I would have no room for a wad with 12grs.
Rio Grande,Thanks for posting the link to that article.I enjoy reading those types of test."The Box of Truth" is a good source for such test.I go to that sight from time to time.
