Local pawn shop has one in like new condition with 32" barrel and nice vernier sight. Asking $996. Opinion on the value?

That sounds close to retail for a new gun.
I would walk in with cash in hand and offer $650,
When they say no.  Keep the $ in your hand and slowly walk to the door.
They may stop you with a $800 or more holler.
Plan on poaying $50 more than you offer in the haggle.
They paid about 1/2 or less if they bought it.  And a lot less if they took it in as a pawn.

This is the page I think you need to look at $ 1150 for a double set triger and 1002 for a single. Hope this helps.
