Sights For Tamer .410
« on: November 30, 2009, 11:31:24 AM »
Hello, This is my first of many questions that I am sure that I will post on this page. I have a .410 Tamer and would like to put some kind of rear sight on it to help with slug shooting. I have limited shotgun shooting experience so any input would be great.

Thanks,
Josh

Welcome Josh! There are several threads on the topic of sights, be sure to use the search feature selecting just this forum, the search button is in the green bar above. H&R will drill and tap a .410 barrel for a scope rail, you can use a red dot on the rail or a Williams WGRS peep sight mounted in the two rear mounting holes, any gunsmith could do the work too. Please post a want to buy ad for the Lee Loader in the Reloading Equipment and Supplies Classified forum, buying/selling/trading is not allowed in discussion forums.  ;)

Sorry about asking in the main room. I will ask in the reloading section. I am trying to use a standard rifle style sight if possible or one of the fiber optic shotgun style sights. Does anyone know the thread size for the front bead on the tamer. I was at Academy sports and they have a couple that look like they would work, and one that mounts on the rib of a barrel that I might be able to JB weld on for the rear but can tread in the front.

Seems to me the bead is a 3-48 or 3-56, but someone else should know. See Sights for Shotguns without Drilling and Tapping in the FAQs and Help sticky, a great place for H&R newbies to spend lots of time reading, should be mandatory.   :D

Tamer Bead size
« Reply #4 on: December 14, 2009, 06:10:04 PM »
Hello,
I have Tamer .410 that I am going to use for woods bumming and bought a fiber optic bead kit that has 4 different sized screws to mount it. I have not taken out the brass bead yet and would like to know if anyone knows what size it is. I have read the FAQ and there is no info on it there. My second question is how should I remove the old on, just with a pair of vize grips is the only way that I can think of.

thanks, Josh

The one in the middle of the pack...everyone I have done it was in the middle of the pack and had the bead already on it...pretty sure that is the 3-56.  Good luck with your Tamer...they are a lot of fun and shoot slugs well.

Thanks for the help, used the kit and it worked well. Now I just have to wait until next week to head to the woods to see how well it works. How do you guys hold the bead 6 oclock or center mass. I have never really used a shotgun much. I am in the military and used to using peeps so this will take some getting used to.

I've always put the bead center mass on my shotguns. Make sure you're sighting down the top of the barrel. If you pick you're head up to look at the bead you'll hit high.
