Does anyone else here think that tourists might have a greater appreciation for this view if a little more care were given to mounting these guns properly? Click on the far right photo.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

How easy would it be to set them on their mounts properly? Get a few guys together on a Saturday night and have a "cannon raising" party....even at a few hundred pounds each, a tri-pod and block and tackle would do the job in a hurry. BoomLover

We must assume this is no longer Cuba's first line of defense  ::)  .............

 Looks like a set for a Bug's Bunny movie...... you know when he flips the cannon around on Yosemite Sam the pirate....

Cannonmn, what do they call the rear end of a cannon? Many things have a "head" and a Foot", "front and back", ships have  "Fore" and Aft", many animals shot from the rear are presenting a "Butt" shot, but how about a cannon? Is it by part name? Muzzle=front, Casabel=rear, trunnions=left and right sides, ect? I may not have been paying attention when this was explained to the rest of the class....thanks, BoomLover

The text with this cannon said that 'it' was looking for pirates .

Butt shot is the correct definition whe veiwed from the rear while they are 'looking for pirates' :D

Hey Allen, this could be Fidel's idea of state of the art artillery; the barrel pointing up might be their finest AA gun.

Got it! I incorrectly assumed that the breech was a specific spot or place on a cannon, but makes sense breech being the fartherest aft you can go one of these guns. Little Seacoast, is that like on "Hee-Haw" where Stringbean carried his mail, right here in his back pocket, next to his heart? I think he was a 'Bama boy, least he acted and sounded like one!  :D

Actually it refers to the only shot you get at a deer when it's headed away from you across the bean fields, with a high powered rifle you can still get a heart shot- length wise.  Stringbean Acuff was from Tennessee near Lebanon, killed by low life home invaders.  Should have owned a cannon.

The cannon on the right could have more than a few plausible explanations; it could be a punt gun, I've heard that Fidel and his bro Raúl just love fowl. It's the position of the tube on the left that's hard to rationalize, maybe Tio Fidel was paranoid that a brigade of CIA trained army ants were coming to grab him by his long red tail.
